The phrase Technical Document Solutions seems to cover three sectors:

• Consultants
• Hardware
• Software

The easiest one to describe is Consultants. These are people or firms who can advise on which Hardware and or Software is appropriate to solve a specific problem. They often use the words "Technical Document Solutions" to describe the service which they proffer. Indeed many firms and organisations use these words or similar in their registered name - such as Technical Document Solutions Ltd.

Very often these consultants are actuallly sales agents who take commission on what they sell as well ... so be warned: it is the "consultancy sell".

Hardware is more difficult to describe. Typically a hardware manufacturer will state:

• Drawing storage - painless analog-to-digital document conversion. Conversion of bulky drawing storage and unwieldy aperture card filing systems into a digital document vault does not have to be difficult.

• Store - Released drawings, regardless of origin, are indexed and imported into document repository. 
• Access - Through this central storage vault, multiple locations gain secure access to the released images via an easily searchable [often web enabled] interface.
• Print - Print only the documents you need when you need them on the quality, reliable wide format printers.

Software seems to the bit left over. And it can range from a small edm system to a full blown project management system such as CEMDC, and also includes web based portals.

What is sure however is that all sectors claim that they will:

• Increase Productivity
• Reduce Errors and Rework
• Reduce Costs
